Diagnostic and Medical Consultation Services in Simcoe County and York Region

CTN's Diagnostic and Medical Consultation Services provide diagnostic assessments and medical consultation for children and adolescents (up to a child’s 18th birthday) with complex developmental, medical and/or behavioural concerns living in Simcoe County and York Region.


What We Do

Consultation in the following clinics is provided by pediatricians and health professionals as needed:

1. Complex Medical Consultation is a service that sees children and youth with complex medical conditions in addition to developmental concerns for consultation including discussion of medical issues, physical functioning, developmental monitoring, community and school supports and services as well as a comprehensive physical examination. 2. Developmental Assessment Consultation Services (DACS) is a service that sees children and youth for assessment regarding Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Click here for more information.

3. Medical Behavioral Clinic is a service that sees children and youth with complex developmental needs who may find benefit from the use of medication to help with specific behavioural challenges. This clinic provides psychopharmacology consultation, prescription and short-term follow up. Click here for more information.

4. Neuromotor Clinic is a service that sees children and youth with neuromotor and neuromuscular conditions that affect muscle tone. The clinic provides consultation regarding medical history, physical functioning, and community and school supports.  This clinic often includes a comprehensive physical examination. 5. Spasticity Management Clinic is a service for children and youth with spasticity or dystonia. Spasticity refers to a change in muscle tone or muscle stiffness and is often related to cerebral palsy, acquired brain injury, and spinal cord injury. The team works with children and families to understand spasticity and how it affects comfort, care, daily activities, and participation. This service works with local team therapists to ensure monitoring and follow up. Click here for more information.
