CTN’s Diagnostic and Medical Consultation Services (DMCS) provides diagnostic assessments and medical consultation for kids, youth and their families experiencing complex developmental, medical and/or behavioural concerns.
What We Do
Consultation in the following clinics is provided by pediatricians and health professionals as needed:
Diagnostic Autism Clinical Services (DACS)
- Provides autism assessments for kids and youth.
Developmental Medical Clinic
- Serves kids and youth with developmental concerns, in addition to complex medical conditions.
- Consultation includes:
- discussion of medical issues and physical functioning
- developmental monitoring
- community and school supports/services
- comprehensive physical examination
Medical Behavioural Clinic
- Provides service to kids and youth with complex developmental needs who may benefit from the use of medication to help with specific behavioural challenges.
- This clinic provides:
- psychopharmacology consultation
- prescription
- short-term follow-up
Neuromotor Clinic
- Offers consultation services for kids and youth with neurodevelopmental conditions that affect muscle tone, such as:
- cerebral palsy
- significant low tone (hypotonia)
- high tone (hypertonia)
- The clinic provides a comprehensive physical examination and consultation that includes a discussion of:
- medical history
- current physical functioning
- community and school supports/services
Spasticity Management Clinic
- Serves kids and youth who experience:
- spasticity- muscle stiffness related to cerebral palsy, acquired brain injury and/or spinal cord injury
- dystonia- a condition that causes involuntary muscle contractions and leads to the inability to control movements
The interdisciplinary team collaborates with kids, youth and their families to understand spasticity or dystonia and how it affects their comfort and function.
Eligibility
- Kids and youth who live in Simcoe County or York Region.
- Up until the age of 18.
Referrals
