The Spasticity Management Clinic offers services to kids and youth who experience:

spasticity- muscle stiffness related to cerebral palsy, acquired brain injury and/or spinal cord injury
dystonia - a condition that causes involuntary muscle contractions and leads to the inability to control movements

What We Do

The interdisciplinary team collaborates with kids, youth and their families to understand spasticity or dystonia and how it affects their comfort and function.

To ensure monitoring and follow-up, the team works alongside Community Based Rehabilitation Services (CBRS) Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists, as well as other service providers.

The team recommends and provides treatment options for tone management that may include:

splinting, serial casting or orthotics
Botulinum Toxin Type A injections
oral medications
referral for assessment by other specialty care as appropriate

Eligibility

Spasticity Management Clinic services are available to kids and youth:

From age two up until the age of 18 with spasticity or dystonia.
Who live in Simcoe County or York Region.

Referrals

Kids and youth must be referred by their physician. Complete the online Physician Referral form, or to send your referral via fax, use this form.
