Date/Time: Tuesday, July 15th, 2025: (10 a.m to 12 p.m. or 12 to 2 p.m.) or Tuesday, Aug. 12 (4 to 6 p.m. or 6 to 8 p.m.) Location: Earl Rowe Provincial Park (4998 Concession Road 7, Alliston, ON) About the Event: Join CTN for another summer of adaptive paddling (canoeing and kayaking) at Earl Rowe Provincial Park! This event is for kids and youth with disabilities and developmental needs 7 to 21 years of age and their support person or caregiver. No prior experience is necessary (this event is for families who have not previously attended a CTN/ AIM adaptive paddling event). Each person will be assessed, and a suitable boat and any necessary adaptive equipment will be included. Participants will enjoy a 60-90 minute paddling experience in small groups, with their support person or caregiver and Abilities in Motion staff and volunteers to support this. Kids and youth aged 8 to 14 with disabilities and/or developmental needs are welcome to come and learn how to prepare a healthy and delicious meal at the beautiful Horodynsky Community Kitchen, inside the Rizzardo Health and Wellness Centre in Innisfil. Adapted from the Nonviolent Crisis Intervention® (NVCI) training program offered through the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), this session will help participants recognize and respond early to signs of anxiety and/or distress, implement supportive verbal and non-verbal communication techniques and appropriate de-escalation strategies, and manage their emotional responses during challenging situations.
