June is a time to reflect, learn and celebrate the diverse communities that enrich our lives and shape a more inclusive future. One meaningful observance this month is National Indigenous History Month, a time to recognize and honour the history, heritage and ongoing contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Metis peoples across Canada.

Celebrating National Indigenous History Month

Throughout June, we invite you to take part in celebrating the vibrant culture and traditions of Indigenous communities. It’s an opportunity to listen, learn, and engage with stories that span generations-stories of strength, resistance, and renewal.

June 21st marks National Indigenous Peoples Day, a day dedicated to recognizing the unique cultures, histories and contributions of Indigenous peoples. It’s a moment to honour their leadership, resilience and the vital role they continue to play in shaping our communities.

Celebrating Pride Month: Honouring 2SLGBTQI+ Communities

June is also recognized across Canada as Pride Month – a time to celebrate identity and the ongoing fight for equity and human rights. Pride Month is both a celebration and a call to action. It is an opportunity to recognize the diversity and resilience of 2SLGBTQI+ communities including those within our network, the kids and youth and families we serve, and the people we cherish in our everyday lives.

Pride is also a time for reflection and growth. Being an ally means committing to ongoing learning, examining our own privileges and assumptions and standing up against discrimination. By understanding the experiences and challenges faced by 2SLGBTQI+ communities, we can help build a more inclusive, affirming society for everyone.
