December 3rd is International Day of Persons with Disabilities. This day raises awareness about disability issues and supports the rights and well-being of people with disabilities. It also focuses on changes needed to help individuals take part in all areas of life, including politics, society, the economy and culture. The theme for this year is ‘amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future’, which highlights participation, representation and inclusion and calls for persons with disabilities to actively shape the conditions of their lives. You can learn more about this year’s theme and access resources on the United Nations website. At Children’s Treatment Network (CTN), our vision is to create a vibrant community where all kids, youth and families belong. CTN supports families through a variety of different programs and services. Our Community and Family Coordinators (CFCs) create and host events that promote belonging for kids and youth with disabilities and developmental needs, as well as their families. These events focus on CanChild's framework of the F-words for Child Development. We believe that every child with varying abilities has the right to have fun, enjoy friends, function as they are, access fitness, plan for their future and join in family activities like going grocery shopping, riding a bike or going to the park! You can view all upcoming CTN events on our website calendar.
