Children’s Treatment Network (CTN) proudly celebrates Black History Month.

Children’s Treatment Network (CTN) proudly celebrates Black History Month (BHM). It is during this time that we amplify diverse voices, including those with disabilities and developmental needs and foster open conversations that recognize the struggles, achievements and rich history of Black culture. It is also a time to elevate our awareness of issues like anti-black racism and its intersection with disability.

This year, the Government of Canada has declared the theme for Black History Month is "Black Excellence: A Heritage to Celebrate; a Future to Build." At CTN, we are committed to contributing to the creation of a future where anti-black racism no longer exists. We embody the values of inclusivity and empowerment, and together, we honor the past, embrace the present, and envision a future where every individual, regardless of background or ability, can thrive and contribute.

During the month of February and beyond, let's take the time to understand and appreciate the diverse stories, struggles, and achievements that collectively shape our history. Through our celebration of Black History Month, we demonstrate our commitment to fostering an inclusive environment—a true reflection of CTN’s values.

We start this month’s celebrations by encouraging you to check out the resources below to learn more about black history, culture and inspiring historical figures.
