CTN Equipment Loan Program (ELP), funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation has recently purchased a wheel-stabilizing system for larger bicycles. The Stab Fixe enables riders who require greater stability to safely enjoy their rides and allows kids of all abilities to have some family biking fun! The Stab Fixe system is designed to fit bikes with 20” wheels or larger and is equipped with 12” wheels with pneumatic tires which offers safe, comfortable and stable handling. CTN supports kids, youth and families by focusing on CanChild's framework of the F-words for Child Development. Every child with varying abilities has the right to have fun, enjoy friends, function as they are, access fitness, plan for their future and join in family activities like bike riding independently! What are the benefits of the Stab Fixe? 1. Family/Fun/Friends – Have fun enjoying the spring weather with friends or on a family bike ride 2. Functioning – Riders who require greater stability are able to safely enjoy riding a bicycle with 20” wheels or larger. The Stab Fixe can be easily attached with an adjustable wrench 3. Fitness – There are many health benefits to cycling including cardiovascular fitness, muscle strength and more! The Stab Fixe by Trivel can be borrowed for two weeks by families of kids and youth who receive occupational therapy or physiotherapy services and live in Simcoe County or York Region. Speak to your child’s therapist for more information or email equipment@ctnsy.ca. Learn more about the benefits of the Stab Fixe by Trivel, here.
