Children's Treatment Network (CTN) is excited to be joining Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital to deliver Extensive Needs Service (ENS) to families in York Region. Holland Bloorview, together with the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario and McMaster Children’s Hospital are leading the specialized support program which launched last year and is funded by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services. This is a critical service for kids and youth facing multiple medical, physical, developmental and social challenges who might otherwise end up frequently visiting emergency departments, being admitted to hospitals unnecessarily and repeatedly referred to urgent and crisis services. The service aims to improve the health and quality of life for kids, youth and their families. ENS is designed to reduce barriers to accessing timely, evidence-based treatment. The services include individualized treatment such as mental health assessments and treatment, managing medications, specialized behavioural intervention, social work, including counselling and therapy from different professionals like occupational therapists and speech language pathologists. It also works closely with other services and service providers in the community to help with transitions like going back to school or moving to adult services. You can learn more about ENS by visiting the Programs and Services page on the CTN website. CTN is the latest health-care organization to partner Holland Bloorview along with Grandview Kids, Michael Garron Hospital and Surrey Place to offer this program to their local communities across the Greater Toronto Area.
