Our recognition of Black History Month aligns with CTN’s vision of creating a vibrant community where all kids, youth and families belong as well as with two of our “core values” inclusion and responsibility. Over the last year, our employees and many network partners have participated in workshops and education sessions around topics of oppression, privilege and anti-Black racism as a reflection of our commitment to the work of equity, diversity, inclusion, Indigeneity and accessibility (EDIIA). This February, CTN’s Employee Engagement Committee is hosting a month-long initiative to Listen, Read, Learn and Do weekly challenges centering Black voices, experiences and organizations. On February 13th, our corporate team will also take part in the virtual reality module called “Let’s Talk About Race” to deepen their understanding and create a space for dialogue and discussion. Our commitment to EDIIA extends well beyond a particular day or month of awareness or significance and we know there is a lot more work to be done. But we are committed to the long journey of learning ahead of us as an organization. We will always look to create learning opportunities that embed the practice of identifying and removing barriers to equity by implementing diversity and inclusion focus broadly. CTN is proud to participate and support Black History Month through our social media channels. Please follow CTN’s Facebook, Instagram and Twitter handles and the hashtag #BlackHistoryMonth for information and resources. At CTN, our mission is together with our partners, we work with kids, youth and their families to support development and well-being. Celebrating Black History Month and encouraging our employees to engage in opportunities to learn and listen together in a safe space is just one of the ways in which we bring this mission, as well as our vision, values and strategic directions to life.
