Who should attend? Parents and Caregivers
This 2.5-hour workshop is designed for parents and caregivers of Autistic children of all ages who want to learn non-physical, supportive intervention strategies to increase safety and reduce risk of harm. Adapted from the Nonviolent Crisis Intervention® (NVCI) training program offered through the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), this session will help participants recognize and respond early to signs of anxiety and/or distress, implement supportive verbal and non-verbal communication techniques and appropriate de-escalation strategies, and manage their emotional responses during challenging situations. Please note that Caregiver NVCI is exclusively available to parents and caregivers eligible for Kerry’s Place Autism Services.
