Our social skills curricula help to establish and develop participants’ skills in interacting and connecting with peers. Using evidence-based strategies, this group aims to provide the opportunity for participants to further develop social skills, based on their individual needs and interests. Topics to be explored: expanding on greeting peers; conversation skills with peers through play and structured activities; increasing interactions with peers, engaging in preferred activities with peers and; compromising, cooperation, maintaining social relationships, responding to teasing and bullying. Tuesdays, January 11 - March 29, 2022 4:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Contact Kerry's Place to Register Participant Age: 7-9 Ratio: 2 participants to 1 staff Cost: $825 Location: Kerry’s Place Autism Services, 38 Berczy Street, Aurora, Ontario Pre-Screen: Prior to registration for any group, the child or youth will participate in a group pre-screen. A group pre-screen is an opportunity for the child or youth to see what a group at Kerry’s Place Autism Services looks likes. Based on the staff members’ observations during the group pre-screen, and in consultation with the child or youth and their caregiver, our experienced staff will make recommendations for any service that might best meet the needs of the child or youth. Participating in a group pre-screen does not guarantee that the child/youth will be enrolled in a particular group or service. Pre-screening sessions are valid for 6 months. This group will require both a virtual and in person pre-screen session. Last Available Pre-Screen – Wednesday, November 17, 2021 Registration opens: Wednesday, October 13, 2021 Registration closes: Tuesday, December 21, 2021 Cancellation Policy: Cancelled by Kerry’s Place: Kerry’s Place may cancel a program due to low enrollment or unforeseen circumstances. If this occurs, and the activity cannot be rescheduled, a full refund will be issued with no administrative fee charged. Cancelled by Supported Person/Family: Cancellation must be received at least 7 days before the start of the workshop/training. A full refund, minus a $25.00 administrative fee, will be applied when 7 days’ notice is provided. If 7 days’ notice is not provided, a full refund will only be issued if the vacancy can be filled. Refunds will not be issued for a missed day during a training session.
