This interactive and practical workshop will aim to provide a practical and comprehensive review of ASD for grandparents. It will provide an overview of what ASD is and an understanding of some of the most common challenges faced by parents of children with ASD. It will also discuss how they can provide support to their grandchild with ASD, their siblings, and the parents of the child with ASD. Furthermore, a review of common intervention and behavioral management strategies will be provided to help grandparents better understand the basics of ABA and how/why certain interventions or behavioral management techniques may be being used with their grandchild with ASD. Finally, some practical suggestions regarding how to build positive relationships with grandchildren with ASD will be provided.
