Recognizing two important cultural celebrations that bring families and communities together.

Today marks the beginning of two cultural celebrations that reflect the diversity of our CTN community: Lunar New Year and Ramadan.

Celebrating Lunar New Year

Lunar New Year begins on February 17th, welcoming the first new moon of the lunar calendar. It is one of the most celebrated holidays in China and is also celebrated in many other Asian countries with their own unique traditions, including Vietnam, the Koreas, Singapore and Malaysia. This joyful season brings up to 16 days of celebrations filled with meaningful traditions, family gatherings and moments of togetherness. It concludes with the Lantern Festival on March 3rd.

Red is the colour of the season, symbolizing good fortune and happiness as seen in decorations, clothing and festive customs throughout the celebrations. In the Chinese zodiac, this year marks the Year of the Horse, a symbol of freedom, action and transformation.

To all who celebrate, wishing you a prosperous and joyful Lunar New Year!

Marking the Month of Ramadan

This year, Ramadan takes place from February 17th to March 19th, marking the ninth month in the Islamic calendar. During this time, Muslims around the world observe a period of reflection, prayer and community.

Throughout the month, those observing Ramadan fast from sunrise to sunset. Fasting is an important practice that encourages empathy, gratitude and acts of kindness, while strengthening both spiritual and personal well‑being. At the end of Ramadan, Eid ul-Fitr or the “Festival of the Breaking of the Fast” is celebrated throughout the community.

To all who are observing, we wish you a peaceful and meaningful Ramadan.
