As part of CTN's ongoing commitment to truth and reconciliation, we continue to evolve our Land Acknowledgement to deepen understanding, encourage reflection and support meaningful action. As part of this work, we invited the kids, youth and families we serve to help create a Land Acknowledgement video.

Reconciliation is more than words. It is an ongoing process of learning the truth, building relationships, fostering understanding and creating a community where every child, youth and family feels welcomed, valued and included.

Every child and family participated in the way that felt right for them. Some read portions of the Land Acknowledgement, while others shared activities they enjoy or communicated in ways that felt most comfortable and authentic to them. Together, their contributions helped create a meaningful video and a reminder that reconciliation is connected to the relationships we build every day and to helping create a vibrant community where all kids, youth and families belong.

We are grateful to Julian, Tyler, Cameron, Diego, Jessie, Declan, William, Laura and Angel Emily and the many other kids, youth and families who generously shared their strengths, interests and a part of themselves. We also thank the CTN employees and volunteers who supported families and helped make this project possible. Their participation helped create a resource that encourages learning, reflection and ongoing conversations about reconciliation.

CTN’s Land Acknowledgement was collectively created in the fall of 2019. We thank Jeff Monague, former Chief and Elder of the Beausoleil First Nation on Christian Island, for sharing the history of the land, his connection to it and its significance to Indigenous Peoples, which supported the creation of CTN's Land Acknowledgement.
