Free, fun and inclusive trick-or-treating for all kids and youth with disabilities and developmental needs.

Get ready for Halloween fun! The Children’s Treatment Network (CTN) and service partners are hosting free trick-or-treat events for kids and youth with disabilities and developmental needs across York Region and Simcoe County.

Tips to Make Halloween Safe and Inclusive for Everyone

At CTN, we believe Halloween should be fun and accessible for all kids and youth. A simple but important principle guides us: we do not expect kids to change. Instead, we adjust the environment and our approach so every kid feels comfortable and included.

CTN events are calm, safe and friendly. They are in places that are easy to get around and not too loud or bright. Come in costume and get some treats. You must register to join. Below are the dates, locations, times and registration forms for each event.

Richmond Hill - Celebrating 15 years of inclusive fun in Richmond Hill!

Join us for the 15th Anniversary of the inclusive Halloween Trick-or-Treat event, co-hosted by CTN, York Region and Oak Valley Health. To mark this anniversary, the event will feature a trick-or-treat street, a photo booth and a musical sensory space presented by Harmonic Expressions. York Regional Police and the Richmond Hill Fire Department will also be making special appearances.

You can help make Halloween more inclusive in your community with these simple steps:

  1. Make sure there’s enough space for wheelchairs walkers and strollers to move easily
  2. Hand out treats at the kid’s eye level if counters are too high
  3. Use calm lighting and avoid loud or flashing decorations
  4. Offer non-edible treats like stickers or small toys for those who can’t have candy
  5. Be patient and respectful with kids who use devices or sign language to communicate

These thoughtful actions help create a warm and welcoming Halloween experience for everyone. To learn more about how to make Halloween safe and inclusive, visit How to make Halloween safe and inclusive for everyone | Holland Bloorview.
