A premiere event held on August 12, 2025, marked the launch of All About Respite, a new video resource created by Children’s Treatment Network (CTN) and Empower Simcoe to raise awareness about the importance of respite care for unpaid caregivers. This new video explores the impact of respite care through the voices of real caregivers and offers practical tools and support for those who care for others. Led by Empower Simcoe’s Respite Coordinator, Carolyn Harris, the video features powerful interviews with Julia and Meaghan, two unpaid caregivers who share their personal stories and the life-changing impact respite has had on their lives. Has your child recently received a new diagnosis of Autism? This 2-hour workshop is designed as a “first step” for parents and caregivers who are eager to learn about what current services are available, and begin exploring options to best support their families’ unique needs.
Kerry's Place - Caregiver Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) - Online
Adapted from the Nonviolent Crisis Intervention® (NVCI) training program offered through the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), this session will help participants recognize and respond early to signs of anxiety and/or distress, implement supportive verbal and non-verbal communication techniques and appropriate de-escalation strategies, and manage their emotional responses during challenging situations.
