CTN Launches New Strategic Plan with Free Events for Kids and Youth with Disabilities

Families, employees and community members enjoyed an evening full of LEGO fun to celebrate the launch of CTN’s new strategic plan.  

On Wednesday, October 19th, Children’s Treatment Network (CTN) launched their new strategic plan with a free evening of family fun. The flagship event was hosted at LEGOLAND Discovery Centre in Vaughan Mills with over 170 kids, youth and adults in attendance. Attendees experienced all that LEGOLAND Discovery Centre has to offer in their wheelchair accessible environment, including rides, LEGO displays, playgrounds, build centres and more. CTN also hosted a strategic plan launch event in Barrie, featuring a LEGO Master Builder, as well as a virtual event for those who could not attend in person.

As a part of the celebration, CTN also launched its first ever story book called ‘The Magic Key’. The story was inspired by the new strategic plan, as well as the kids, youth and families that CTN serves. It delivers the main tenants of the strategic plan through a heartwarming, fun and magical story. The story was written by a CTN staff member and is illustrated by the extremely talented Abigail Roscoe. Identifying as a disabled artist, who aims to challenge ableism in her work, Abigail was the perfect fit for this special project.

All kids and youth who attended the event, took home one of the first printed copies of the book. We are also planning to have the story book translated into several languages, including braille, and making it available to families in the near future. Attendees of all three events were treated to a special reading of ‘The Magic Key’ by Jack, who receives services from CTN, and his mom Erin.
