One of these services has been Child and Family Counselling Services. This service provides brief counselling and support to children or youth with multiple special needs and their families who are experiencing high levels of stress or who need support in dealing with emotionally difficult situations related to a disability. We review the programs and services we offer on an ongoing basis with consideration for who is accessing the service and why, what other community supports and services are available for children and families and our budget position. Unfortunately, CTN will no longer be offering Child and Family Counselling Services. CTN will stop accepting referrals for this service immediately and staff is making plans to address the existing caseload and waiting lists. We know the importance of supporting clients and families with counselling. Our ACCESS team will continue connecting clients and families who need this support by linking them with other services available in the community. Children who are diagnosed through the Autism Diagnostic Hub and require post-diagnostic support around the diagnosis will receive support through that service. New Path Youth and Family Services and York Hills Centre for Children, Youth and Families have provided Child and Family Counselling Services on CTN’s behalf. Thank you to both of these organizations for their ongoing commitment to helping families and building brighter futures together. We would also like to thank the clinical staff who have been providing this service. They have provided our families and clinical teams with excellent support and we would like to wish them well in their future clinical work. If you have any questions please contact Mary Riggin, Director Programs and Services at mriggin@ctnsy.ca.
