Who should attend? Children|Youth
These groups are appropriate for adolescents who could benefit from social skills support with their daily interactions. Group programming is based on the well-established Social Thinking® curriculum. Sessions will include role-playing, use of videos, and other activities to practice conversational-based social skills. This group is facilitated by a Registered Speech-Language Pathologist and will take place in-person at the clinic. A complimentary pre-group screening is offered to determine group appropriateness. EVENT DETAILS: Dates and Time: Session 1: Tuesdays from October 1 to November 19, 2024; 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. (Grades 5 & 6)** Session 2: Tuesdays from October 1 to November 19, 2024; 5:45 – 6:45 p.m. (Grades 7 & 8)** Session 3: Tuesdays from October 1 to November 19, 2024: 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. (Grades 9 – 12)** For further details, click here. Conversation Club is aimed at enhancing participants’ conversation skills, such as initiating and maintaining conversations, participating in group discussions, and connecting with peers.
Kerry's Place - Caregiver Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) - Online
Adapted from the Nonviolent Crisis Intervention® (NVCI) training program offered through the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), this session will help participants recognize and respond early to signs of anxiety and/or distress, implement supportive verbal and non-verbal communication techniques and appropriate de-escalation strategies, and manage their emotional responses during challenging situations.
