Who should attend? Youth
Join us for a social event series for youth ages 12 and up who use AAC in York Region and Simcoe County. This event will provide opportunities to connect with other AAC users and participate in fun activities! Event details Register for any of the below events here. Thursday, August 3, 12 - 2 p.m. - Beach Event Innisfil Beach, 676 Innisfil Beach Rd., Innisfil Friday, August 4, 12 - 2 p.m. - Park Event Crosby Park, 161 Newkirk Rd., Richmond Hill Tuesday, September 19, 5:30 - 7 p.m. - Pizza Party The Common Roof, 165 Ferris Lane, Barrie Wednesday, September 20, 5:30 - 7 p.m. - Pizza Party CTN Site, 13175 Yonge St., Richmond Hill Monday, October 2, 5 - 6:30 p.m. - Bowling 19 Michael Anne Dr, Coldwater Thursday, October 5, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. – Bowling 9 East Wilmot Street, Richmond Hill ACCS clinicians will be present at the events to help facilitate interactions between youth. A coffee chat for caregivers to connect with each other will also be running concurrently during the event. Please note that parents/caregivers must accompany and supervise their child(ren) during each session. Kerry's Place - Caregiver Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) - Online
Adapted from the Nonviolent Crisis Intervention® (NVCI) training program offered through the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), this session will help participants recognize and respond early to signs of anxiety and/or distress, implement supportive verbal and non-verbal communication techniques and appropriate de-escalation strategies, and manage their emotional responses during challenging situations.
