Who should attend? Parents and Caregivers|Children|Youth
At this free event, people experiencing disability and non-disabled people can enjoy a public skate or come try sledge hockey in a safe and supportive environment. Half of the ice will be for ice skating and half the ice will be for sledge hockey. An adapted skating environment is provided with dimmed lighting, a low total number of participants on the ice, and quieter skate change rooms. On ice sledge hockey tutorials provided by coaches from All Sports All People. No skating or hockey experience required. Support workers and assistive equipment (e.g., wheelchairs, walkers, and other mobility devices) are welcomed on the ice. Public skating safety rules apply (e.g., all participants and support workers must be wearing skates on the ice). See the Barrie.ca website for a full list of public skating rules. Siblings and families are welcome to attend, and must register separately.
King City - Adapted Gymnastics (Pulsars Gymnastics Partnership) - York
Adapted Gymnastics is a class for just adaptive athletes who have a broad spectrum of disabilities and severities. They will be partnered with a 2:1 coach.
Kerry's Place (FFS) - Autism: Beyond the Diagnosis - Online
This 2½-hour workshop teaches parents and caregivers strategies and tools to help their children and youth understand their diagnosis, using a strengths-based approach.
