Families of preschoolers in York Region with special needs can now keep track of contacts, appointments and access information about their child's services using a new free app that is available for iPhone and Android devices.
Families of preschoolers with special needs in York Region have a new tool available to help them learn about services, keep track of appointments and organize their child and family team contacts.
In the Loop is a free app available for both iPhones and Android phones. It was created through a partnership between York Region Early Intervention Services, Markham Stouffville Hospital’s Child Development Programs and Children’s Treatment Network. The app was launched in the spring of 2016 in Google Play and the App store.
In the Loop provides families with information about each agency, and quick access to helpful resources to support child development. It is designed to help families manage appointments, find out what to expect at assessments, create a contact list of their child’s team of health professionals and track the status of their services.
Here is one family’s review:
The ability to assemble a directory of my son's team with easy links to the team members' contact and location information is very useful. The links to information about the various agencies has great utility too. The language used in the app is warm, welcoming, and soothing, which I think is very important as this will be a psychological touchstone for people in their journey through the assessment and treatment process, especially early on.
