An Inclusive Birthday Celebration for Everyone!

news image

The Children’s Treatment Network (CTN) team in Alliston wants all children to experience the joy of attending a birthday party!

So with the support of our partners from Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH), CLASS, and Catulpa, we had a successful event with inclusive party fun, which included cupcake decorating, loot bags and a special magic show.

More than 55 children and youth arrived with their families for the celebration of the year. After a brief welcome explaining that this was EVERYONE’S birthday party, excited party-goers sang "Happy Birthday to Everyone." Magical Duda did a spectacular magic show and kept everyone entertained for the entire half-hour he was performing. A great time was had by all, and parents said they were particularly grateful that their child/youth had experienced the fun of a sensory-friendly and inclusive party. The littlest guests left the party with smiles and a fun loot bag!

Inclusive Party Activities included:

  • Magical Duda
  • Cat in the Hat interactive display from New Tecumseth Public Library
  • Face painting
  • Dance party
  • Birthday pictures
  • Decorate-your-own-cupcake station
  • Lootbags

What a wonderful party!  The magician was amazing and held all the kids attention for the whole show.  My son was shaking his wheelchair with excitement.  I don't think anyone left without a smile on their face!

A very special thank you to our great team of volunteers and generous sponsors: Honda Canada Foundation, Motion Specialties, Zehrs, Bulk Barn and Closing the Gap.
